Ingredients

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and sea salt.
  2. Using a stand mixer or hand mixer, beat the room-temperature unsalted butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract to the butter mixture and mix until fully combined.
  4. Turn the mixer to low speed and gradually add the dry ingredients, mixing only until the flour streaks disappear.
  5. Divide the dough into two disks, wrap tightly in plastic, and refrigerate for at least two hours to firm up.
  6. On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough to a quarter-inch thickness and use cookie cutters to create festive shapes.
  7. Bake at 350°F for 9 to 11 minutes until the edges are just barely golden, then allow them to set on the baking sheet before moving.
